The Logitech G35 7.1 Channel Surround Sound Headset is an outstanding solution for gamers, making a full 7.1 experience possible through only two channels possible through impressive engineering and technology. The sound quality, positional sound features, comfort, and voice changing are just the top of the stack of features that makes me love this headset.

Physical Profile

The Logitech G35 is consistent with Logitech’s recent gaming gear in that it is quite boxy and angular, providing an appearance that readily identifies it as a Logitech product. One of the nicest things about the G series headsets, the way they can be customized by the user, remains true with the G35. For example, I’ve always hated having a LAN party and then having to set all my stuff back the way it was afterwards. Well, with the G35’s marked head band, that’s no longer a problem. All you do is remember what your settings are and you can quickly get back to normal. Another thing I like about the G35 is how it comes with three sets of pads for the head band. These allow the user to vary the way the headset sits on top of the head, giving you the most comfortable fit.

I hate how some headsets make my ears feel crushed and pinched because the cups over the ear are too small. With the G35, the cups are roomy enough for comfort and the seal around them is of high quality enough to prevent even vibrating bass sounds from escaping. Don’t get me wrong though: the G35 does not have noise cancellation features and it does not give you complete isolation from the outside world. Still, it gives you enough so that you can enjoy your game experience without being distracted by sounds from your real environment.

Lightweight is not a good term for the G35 headset, although I can wear it for a long time without hurting my neck or feeling like it’s tilting toward one side of my head. The key is to adjust the headset so that it is balanced.

Control panel

The G35 is powered by a graphical control panel that sets your microphone and speaker settings. The GUI has separate sections for surround sound, voice morphing, headset buttons (G Keys), and surround sound. The only bad thing about the interface is that there is no volume control for each individual channel of the surround sound: there’s only a master control. The control doesn’t have an equalizer, something many will miss.

Without hesitation I recommend the sound quality of the G35. It has great channel separation and great coexistence of powerful bass and distinct highs. When you make the change from stereo to surround, be prepared because the virtual surround sound of the G35 is stunning. Front to back separation is distinct, and so is the change between left and right sides versus left and right rear. There’s no doubt about it in my mind, the logitech g35 is the best gaming headset.

Take a look at what other users of the Logitech G9x have to say:

Christopher Deweese,

The G9x is an upgrade to my previous mouse, a cordless MX. No matter what other people say about wireless being ok for gaming, I really don’t like it. Too much lag with a wireless mouse to be really serious about my gaming. The Logitech G9x is the most customizable and most sensitive mouse I’ve ever owned.

Everything about this mouse can be customized. The two customizable features that I find most important are the grips and the weight. I enjoy playing with the precision grip and 16 grams of extra weight. With the G9x you can add 28 grams of extra weight thanks to a neat weight cartridge near the base of the mouse.

Windows 7 picked up the drivers quickly and I had the software for this mouse installed in just a few minutes. My favorite Games like Half Life 2 and Call of Duty feel so much more satisfying with the G9x. Well worth the price.”

Razer Mamba Review by Jacob Martus

Polling Rate:

I’ve never started a product review with its packaged presentation before, but I had to with one as unique and classy as this. It starts with a Plexiglas encasement holding the mouse perched inside on a pedestal, giving it a really neat, futuristic look. At the base of the pedestal, there are three shelves hiding the charging unit, the USB cable and the battery, giving full emphasis to the mouse. Razer brags that the Mamba is in a league of its own, and its packaging emphasizes this idea.

The biggest, most noticeable benefit you’ll see when using the Razer Mamba is its 1/ms response rate. This ensures maximum speed in command execution over its wireless connection. In short, this means you can expect real time responses and best in class performance with the Razer Mamba. After several weeks of use, I’ve had absolutely no problems with connectivity, and the Mamba has firmly stamped its reliability in my mind.

Product Specifications:

  • 5600 DPI Laser engine, one of the fastest available on any mouse right now.
  • 1 ms response rate coupled with 1000 HZ of Ultrapolling
  • Razer Synapse on-board memory
  • Ergonomic ambidextrous design
  • Gaming Grade Wireless Technology

The macro functions on the Mamba work well and I like the button placement and the ease in which I can record macros in game. I’m a big fan of built in memory on a mouse and Razer’s synapse technology is some of the best. I spend alot of time at a local internet cafe and I like having my customized mouse when I’m there.

The last neat benefit and one that I felt was noteworthy is the ambidextrous design of the Razer Mamba. Both left and right handed gamers can use this mouse equally which is issue that other “great” mice have failed to address.

The Good
• Ergonomics are very comfortable as is the standard with Razer.

• 1 ms response rate is huge in highly competitive environments.

• On the Fly adjustable DPI is very customizable. Set your own levels.

• Battery Life and DPI stage indicator is very helpful.

• Wireless performs flawlessly, no interference or lag whatsoever.

The Cons
• The price is pretty steep, but its got all the features to back this up.

See what other people have to say about the Razer Mamba:

Mantas M.,

“Before the Razer Mamba, I had tried many wireless mice, but always went back to the wired option due to lag and interference. The Mambasolves this price 100%. This is by far one of the coolest mice I’ve ever owned. It always maintains its 1ms response rate which is huge in the highly competitive FPS games I play. The battery life is pretty good and if you’re getting low, you can just plug it in on the go. Really eliminates every issue I had with a wireless mouse for gaming, and performs as well as any wired mouse I’ve ever owned. Overall, I absolutely recommend this mouse.” Review paraphrased for size

Overall, the Razer Mamba lives up to all of its hype and performs in a league of its own. It combines all the best features of today with Razer’s classic comfortable design. Sure the price is a bit hefty, but the benefits are absolutely worth it.

Microsoft SideWinder X8 Mouse Review

DPI (Sensitivity):

Get the Microsoft SideWinder X8 25% off for a limited time at!

To tell the truth, I was, at first, not too excited about the release of the Microsoft SideWinder X8 gaming mouse. What turned me off was the blue track technology that replaces the standard laser. I have a Microsoft Wireless 5000 on my office computer and was not too impressed with it. I ended up buying the SideWinder X8 due to my fanaticism for all things Microsoft and after the first day, I was extremely pleased with my choice.

Blue Track technology makes all the difference

The MS SideWinder X8 has three DPI settings that move up to 4000 DPI and this is what makes the difference with the Blue Track. Blue Track is Microsoft’s new optical system that uses a wide-angle blue laser to allow the mouse to function on unconventional surfaces such as clear glass and carpet. My past experience was that while Blue Track haltingly worked on unconventional surfaces, it skipped and jumped a lot on regular surfaces. It wouldn’t work at all on my old black mousepad. I experienced no problems like this with the X8.

After the Blue Track technology, the next notable feature is that the X8 is one of the few gaming mice that is wireless. A wireless gaming mouse is a bold choice as the signal usually cannot carry through with sensitivity of the DPI settings and this is the first wireless mouse by Microsoft marketed to gamers. The X8 handles the wireless conundrum by upgrading to a 2.4 GHz radio signal. The mouse itself runs on a single AA rechargeable battery. The battery holds a charge for 30 hours and there is no chance of being left hanging with a dead battery because the mouse will function when connected directly to the charger. The charger, on its own, is a work of genius. It runs a cool charge through a magnetic cable that sticks onto the charging port under the front base of the mouse. The charger also doubles as the wireless receiver and has a third function in storing two extra sets of replacement foot pads for the mouse.

Improved Ergonomics

The SideWinder X8 is shaped only slightly different from its predecessors. The mouse is just a tad shorter than the X5 and original SideWinder but it is the widest of the three. Most of the sharp angles have been rounded off, including the back, which no longer has the point like the X5. All of the changes in shape work in conjunction to give the mouse a full, solid feel while being unbelievably light. For color, the X8 sports a new shade of gray over the usual black gloss. The LCD rests on the left side of the mouse and automatically turns off to save power. The left side has 3 buttons. The tip of the thumb extends to the main button while the thumb rests between a top and bottom button. The mouse wheel of the X8 has gone from rubber to metal and it uses a clicking scroll and features a left and right tilt. Three DPI setting buttons are in the center below the scroll wheel and can be set from the software interface.

Microsoft has finally built a mouse for gamers that is both practical and comfortable. As far as the SideWinder series is concerned, the X8 is perfection.

Microsoft SideWinder X8 Features:
• 2.4 GHz wireless radio frequency
• Blue Track optical technology
• 30 hrs play time per charge
